88 Miles will be down for maintenance

Just a quick note to let you know that 88 Miles will be down for maintenance on January 25th 2008 between 10am and 10:30am AWST (GMT+9).

During this time, we are moving to a new server to increase the capacity and speed of the system — I have done a couple of test runs, so that side of things should be fairly smooth. I only really envisage 5 minutes of actual downtime, but with DNS delegation, you never know!

During that time, you won't be able to punch in or punch out of projects — however, if you are punched in on a project, the system will remember it and you should see the running task when it comes back online.

If you have any questions, please contact us me via the MadPilot Productions website.

Thanks for your cooperation, and sorry for the inconvience

Myles

Server downtime

Some of you may have noticed that 88 Miles has been down for athe last hour or so — currently Media Temple (88 Miles' host) is performing some maintenance, which is causing the distruption.

The service should be restored within the next half hour — I appologise for the inconvience this has caused.

Myles

Fixed SSL

Apologies to those who have had some problems logging into the site in the past few days — as you would probably know, 88 Miles has moved over to a Media Temple Grid Server who run a Apache+Mongrel proxy system.

This was playing havoc with the SSL detection script. This has been fixed now

Thanks,

Myles

And we are back...

The maintenance went swimmingly, and everything seems to be back up and running happily. So what did this upgrade bring you?

This was mainly an internal database schema change to pre-empt some cool, new exciting features in the near future, however, there it also included some minor interface tweaks (Keep the feedback coming!). For those of you using webservices, you should notice that they are more stable now but the big change is for business users.

If you are a business beta tester all of your staff have the ability to add, edit and remove both companies and projects, which they couldn't do before. You can also mark companies and projects as private, so only you can see them. There will be finer grain access control being rolled out really soon

So, as usual, I ask the business beta testers to test, test, test and if you find anything please let me know.

Keep an eyeout, because there will be some cool features rolling out shortly...

Cheers,

Myles

Scheduled Downtime

Hello everyone,

I've been a busy little beaver over the past couple of weeks - I've been away to Web Directions South 06 which was a great conference - not only did I get to talk to some big names for the web, but I managed to get some great feedback for 88 Miles. Hopefully it won't be too long before these changes see the light of day.

...which brings me to the point. 88 Miles will be going down for some scheduled maintenance on Saturday 14 Oct morning at 9am (AWST) for around less than 30 minutes. I apologies ahead of time if this is inconvenient, so I'll try to keep the downtime to a minimum.

Thanks for your patience!

Regards,

Myles Eftos
88 Miles developer
